Giving Back at the JRB Fort Worth Commissary: Food Boxes for Troops

Today I visited the JRB Fort Worth Commissary to do a little shopping, and I saw something that really touched my heart at the checkout counter. They had pre-assembled food boxes available for customers to purchase, and every box bought is donated to service members in need. It was simple, it was practical, and it was powerful.
Because this is the giving season—and because it helped solidify my mission with Basecamp United Foundation—I decided to step up and help. I purchased four boxes of food to be donated. It may seem small to some, but to someone going through a hard season, it can be the very thing that reminds them they’re not forgotten.
Why This Matters
It’s easy to get comfortable in our routines—shopping, work, home, family time. But the truth is this: while many of us are snug as a bug in a rug in our beds, there is always a soldier, Marine, sailor, or airman awake—standing the watch. Our armed forces don’t sleep. There is always someone up watching, protecting our freedom and keeping our families safe.
That reality should keep us grateful—and it should also keep us giving when we can.
If You Get the Chance, Give
If you ever find yourself at the commissary and you see those donation food boxes, I want to encourage you: please give if you can. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be real.
Sometimes the smallest act of generosity becomes the biggest act of hope for someone else.
Let’s Keep the Mission Moving
At Basecamp United Foundation, our mission is about lifting people up, meeting needs, and reminding our service members and their families that they are seen, valued, and supported.
Thank you for reading—and thank you for caring.
