The Newson Family Legacy tells the story of the Newson, Price, and Smith families before, during, and after Jim Crow.

Our ancestors faced slavery, segregation, racism, hardship, and sacrifice—but those struggles do not define the end of our story. They survived, built families, served their country, pursued education, practiced their faith, and created opportunities for the generations that followed.

This book preserves their story so our children and grandchildren will know where they came from.

We acknowledge the struggle, but we don't live in victimhood. We claim victory over victimhood.
